Your wedding pictures must tell the story of your big day, thus choosing a wedding photographer that knows his craft and understand your needs, is vital.
Here are some pointers when scouting for a wedding photographer:
- Choose someone that you both like – if you feel uncomfortable or creepy in the photographer’s presence, it will only be worse on your wedding day
- Choose a photographer that really listens to you and understand your needs – many photographers will force their ideas onto you
- Keep track of the photographers habit of responding quickly and clearly to your mails, calls and questions – this will show his dedication
- Take a good look at the photographer’s portfolio – let him show you the whole wedding rather than selected shots from various weddings
- Screen his packages offered and negotiate your needs to fit into them
- Never book a wedding photographer that does not supply you with a proper contract that you both agree to
- Make sure you meet with your photographer at least one month before the day as to discuss all your images – where will you shoot, who must be in the pictures etc
- Visit all the venues in play like your church, reception hall and venue for photographs with your photographer and work out a shooting schedule in detail
- If at any stage you feel uncomfortable with anything, talk it through or cancel the photographer
- Collect a range of wedding pictures you really like and also ones you really dislike and present them to your photographer – this will give him a great insight into your needs.
